The Acer Iconia W700 is a powerful Windows 8 tablet equipped with an Intel Core i3 or faster processor, an 11.6 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel IPS display, 4GB of RAM, a solid state disk and a digital pen. In other words, it packs a lot more punch than the Intel Atom-powered Windows 8 tablets that have hit the market in recent months.

In fact, Acer thinks the Iconia W700 is powerful enough to act as a desktop-style computer, which is why up until now the company has bundled the tablet with a desktop docking station and a wireless mouse and keyboard.

But now the company is starting to offer a new configuration that’s better suited for on-the-go  use.

Acer Iconia Tab W700p with Folio Case

The Acer ICONIA W700P-53314G12as ships with a Folio Case with a Bluetooth keyboard built in. This lets you carry the tablet with you and then prop it up on a table, desk, or even lap when you need to get some work done.

Mobile Geeks spotted a listing for the new configuration at Amazon’s German site. I haven’t found any US retailers offering the Iconia W700 with a Folio Case yet, but  Acer does have a somewhat confusing listing for the product on its English language website.

The product page shows a tablet with a desktop dock, but the description doesn’t mention that dock, and does mention a Folio Case. On the other hand, the description also says the tablet has a Core i3 processor in one section, but says it’s equipped with a Core i5 chip in another, so it’s probably best to take the whole thing with a grain of salt.

Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablet has similar specs and sells for $899 and up, but that price doesn’t include a keyboard cover. Right now the Iconia W700P with a Folio Case is selling for about $1400, but that price includes value added tax.

  2. IMO the state of the hardware with pieces like this are making the desktop/mobile OS line a more and more blurry one all the time.
It’s interesting to say the least.

  3. I purchased the Acer Iconia W700P-6821 from Amazon a week ago and was surprised to see that it came with the Folio Case with Bluetooth Keyboard included in the USA Baby
