Acer will launch two new ultrabooks in its Aspire M5 line. There’s a 14 inch model with a 10-point capacitive multitouch display and a 15.6 inch model with a magnesium alloy case.
Both models are thin notebooks with Intel Ivy Bridge processors, 1366 x 768 pixel displays, up to 8 hours of battery life, and 500GB hard drives with 20GB solid state disks for instant-on capabilities. They’ll be available starting October 26th, for $700 and up.
Acer Aspire M5-481PT
The 14 inch laptop features a multitouch display with edge-to-edge glass and an aluminum case. The Aspire M5-481PT weighs about 4.6 pounds.
While that make the notebook a bit heavier than some other ultrabooks, both the 14 and 15.6 inch M5 models features built-in optical disc drives. It also has a full-sized Ethernet port.
The laptop packs an Intel Core i5 Ivy Bridge CPU, a backlit keyboard, an HDMI port and two USB 3.0 ports. You can even use those ports to charge your phone or other gadgets when the computer is hibernating or turned off.
The M5-481PT will run $799.99 and up when it launches later this month.
Acer Aspire M5-581T
Acer’s new 15.6 inch ultrabook is a bit heavier than its little sibling, weighing 5 pounds. It has a magnesium alloy chassis. And this model doesn’t have a touchscreen.
Otherwise, the M5-581T is a lot like the 14 inch model.
The Acer Aspire M5-581T will be available starting October 26th for $599.99 and up.
