Right now if you want to pick up an Acer Aspire One netbook with Windows XP, you need to find a model with a hard drive. While Acer does sell several models with solid state disks, they run Linpus Linux Lite instead of Windows. But according to French news site Blogeee, that will soon change.

Acer is launching several new models with SSDs and Windows XP, including a model with a built in 3G wireless modem. Neither my French nor Google Translate is really good enough to make complete sense of the pricing information Pierre at Blogeee posted. I have a feeling that the chart above doesn’t tell the whole picture. So if you can tell how much the cheapest SSD/Windows model will cost, let us know in the comments.

No word on when we’ll see similar options available in the US.

  1. I was going to buy the Acer One after trying it out with friends but I heard that its a bitch to add ram.

Can you do an article with a little comparison of which netbook is the easiest to mod in terms of space available, options, ease, etc?

  2. The one on the right is the only XP/SSD model. It’s a 16 GB SSD. It also has the 3G module. 479 euros is US$624 at today’s rate.

  3. Best price so far in France for model with XP/SSD is €349.25, and that’s without 3G. The best price for model with XP/SSD including 3G is 399.25. The confusion about prices arises from suggested price (by Acer) as supposed to actual prices listed by retailers.
