aspire-one-751-teardown

Sometimes it seems like a day doesn’t go by without someone posting the first photos of a mini-laptop splayed open on the operating table. Today we have two additions: the Acer Aspire One 751 11.6 inch laptop and the NEC VersaPro VS 10.2 inch overpriced netbook.

Netbook Italia did the dirty work on the Aspire One 751. The teardown guide features helpful pictures and information that should make it easy to perform simple tasks like removing the access panels to upgrade the hard drive or RAM. If you want more complete access to the notebook’s innards, you’ll have to remove the keyboard to get at the motherboard.

Meanwhile, Tech-On! took apart the VersaProVS, exposing its Intel Atom Z540 CPU to the world. The site confirmed that the 64GB SSD is an MLC disk, which features some of the advantages of all solid state disks including durability thanks to the lack of moving parts. But MLC disks don’t generally have the fast read speeds found on SLC solid state disks.

  1. I wonder why the keyboard on this one isn’t closer to the screen to allow for some wrist space.
