Acer has launched an updated version of the 11.6 inch Acer Aspire 1410 with Windows 7 Home Premium. While the model released a few months ago shipped for $450 with Windows Vista and a single core 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Solo SU3500 processor, the new version packs a dual core 1.2GHz Intel Celeron SU2300 CPU. Oh yeah, and it costs even less, running just $399.99 at Amazon.
I’m still waiting for my demo unit to arrive, but the folks at Netbooked got their hands on the new Aspire 1410 today and they’ve got the unboxing video to prove it. You can check out the video after the break, but here are a few of the highlights:
- Most of the specs are the same as the original version (11.6 inch screen, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, and 4400mAh, 48WHr battery)
- At 11.6 inches, the laptop isn’t much larger than a 10 inch netbook, and it weighs just over 3 pounds
- The model featured on Netbooked has a Japanese keyboard
What I really want to know is how the dual core SU2300 processor stacks up against the Core 2 Solo SU3500 CPU and the higher end dual core CULV chips found in the Asus UL30A and Acer Aspire Timeline 1810T series laptops.
i have one, it sucks:p
Is it possible to install windows XP pro on a Acer Aspire 1410? It came with Windows 7 Home Edition and I need XP pro.
Yes its possible. Just activate IDE mode on BIOS. And CD WinXP’ll detect your disk.
Hey Brad,
I’ll be using your downloadable benchmark tools for this, that was a great idea. You or one of your readers will probably get around to benchmarking it first though.
The first thing I did though was go to YouTube. The highest quality YouTube HD video I could find “Home” played almost perfectly. Very watchable, I was amazed. The SU3500 on the other hand was a slide slow.
That’s excellent news!
I know you’re not in the US, so you can’t test Hulu… but I’m guessing that
means Hulu should play well in full screen as well.
That’s pretty impressive considering this laptop is $50 cheaper than the
SU3500 version.
Thanks for the great news Brad 🙂
We all are excited to see Dual Core Celeron stacked against the Core 2 Solo. Also, please check if the newer model have bluetooth, which was missing in single core model!
Waiting for the benchmarks…
