packard bell butterfly touch

A few days ago Acer introduced the Aspire Timeline 1820P, an 11.6 inch laptop that’s nearly identical to the Acer Aspire 1410 I recently reviewed except that the 1820P has a higher capacity battery and a touchscreen display that can be folded down over the keyboard for use in tablet mode. But as with almost every 11.6 inch and smaller laptop Acer has introduced over the last year, the Acer Aspire 1810TZ isn’t alone. Acer is also launching an identical laptop under the Packard Bell name, and the folks at Portable Gear.nl got a chance to check one out in person.

Like the 1820P, the  Packard Bell Butterfly Touch has an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display and runs Windows 7 Home Premium. It reprotedly has an 8 hourbattery and should be available for 599 Euros on October 22nd.

You can find more photos at Portable Gear.nl. You can also check out a video of the laptop in action after the break.

  1. Why do all the tablets get announced and then disappear? So far, only the T91 seems to actually be out. Oh, I guess the T1028, too. But still, it seems like “Oh look, we’re going to have a tablet soon!” When? “Oh, before the sun dies…”

  2. First off the Acer 1810TZ is not a tablet netbook. It does not have a swivel touchscreen as the “reviewer” claims in the very first sentence.

The model with these features that Acer is reported to be releasing soon is the Acer 1820P.

I didnt want anyone to be surprised by no touchscreen if they went to buy the 1810tz. I prefer no touchscreen myself so I’ll probably go for the 1810TZ.

    1. Thanks for the clarification. This is what I get for blogging too early in
      the morning.

I’m not sure why you put “reviewer” in quotes though. I never claim to have
reviewed the Packard Bell laptop. This is just a quick news note… with an
      error which I’ve just corrected.

I have reviewed the Acer Aspire 1410 and a number of other laptops, but
those items are all clearly marked as reviews and found in the reviews
      section.

      1. I clearly understood you did not review the Packard Bell.

I put reviewer as you had mistakenly claimed to have reviewed the 1810tz in your initial post and didn’t see how you missed that it did not have a swivel touch screen.

        It is clear now though.

        Although,
a netbook with a swivel/touch screen with similar specs as the Acer 1810TZ would be a Gateway EC18T. Nice if you need the core 2 duo.

        1. Actually I pointed out that I had reviewed the Acer Aspire 1410 recently,
with link to that review. That part of the article remains unchanged. The
only thing I changed was the model number of the touchscreen version after
you reminded me that I got it wrong.

I should really try not to write model numbers from memory. When there were
just a half dozen netbooks on the market it was easy enough to keep all the
models in my head, but things are a bit more complicated these days. 🙂
