The ACEMAGIC X1 is a dual-screen laptop with an unusual design. From the front you could easily mistake it for a typical notebook: there’s a screen, keyboard, and touchscreen. But there’s a second screen attached to a 360-hinge that flips out to give you a dual-screen setup without the need to carry a portable monitor.
First unveiled earlier this year, the ACEMAGIC X1 is now available for pre-order in the US and Europe with prices starting at $899 and €899, respectively.

The laptop’s most striking feature is its second screen, which can be positioned in a dual-monitor kind of setup, or so that it’s back-to-back with the primary display.
In that mode, you could fold the lid down over the keyboard and use the computer as a tablet. Or you could use screen mirroring so that a person sitting across from you can see what you’re looking at while you’re delivering a presentation, watching a video, or playing a game, among other activities. You could also use it as an extended display so one person could watch a movie while another works.

Since this is a new device from a company that’s better known for making mini desktop PCs than laptops, I’d probably be at least a little worried about the long-term durability of the 360-degree hinge that connects the second screen to the first. But the $899 price tag doesn’t seem too bad for such an unusual computer.
Both of the laptop’s displays are 14 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel screens. Other specs are… okay, I guess.
ACEMAGIC equips this mini PC with an Intel Core i7-1255U processor, which is a 15-watt, 10-core, 12-thread chip that was launched in 2022 as part of Intel’s Alder Lake mobile processor lineup. It’s a few-generations old at this point, but still not a horrible choice for a fairly compact, energy-efficient laptop.

The ACEMAGIC X1 has 16GB of DDR4-3200 memory and a 1TB PCIe 3.0 SSD. Both are user upgradeable: the laptop has two SODIMM slots for memory and two M.2 2280 connectors for solid state storage.
The X1 also has a 70.4 Wh battery, support for WiFi 6 and Bluetooth, and a set of ports that includes:
- 1 x USB 3.0 Type-C (5 Gbps with DisplayPort Alt Mode)
- 1 x USB Type-C (for charging only)
- 1 x USB 3.0 Type-A (5 Gbps)
- 1 x HDMI 2.0
ACEMAGIC says the dual-screen laptop will have a retail price of $1399 after pre-orders end, but I suspect that’s a marketing gimmick and that while the retail price will eventually be higher than $899, it won’t be that high.
