Following in the long tradition of big, ugly battery makers, it looks like some folks have decided to create a super high capacity battery for the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbook. The highest capacity battery Dell sells for this machine has 4 cells. But you can pick up a third party 8 cell battery on eBay.
A member of the MyDellMini forums picked one up and ran a few tests. Using the Battery Eater Pro test, the battery ran for about five and a half hours, but that test is meant to put some extra stress on your system. When he tried browsing the web and doing some other light activity the battery managed to last about eight and a half hours.
Now, you have to be careful when ordering third party batteries from eBay. Sometimes the results aren’t quite as good. But it looks like this high capacity Dell battery could be a winner.Your results may vary.

To me this one doesn’t look worse than the proprietary 6-cell of the HP mini 1000 or maybe the Dell mini 10 or Lenovo.
