Want a high definition display for your netbook, but don’t feel like removing the 1024 x 600 pixel display that shipped with your computer to install one? No problem. 7th Century is selling a USB powered 1366 x 768 pixel 10.1 inch screen. Just plug it into your netbook, notebook, or desktop to add a second, high definition display.
The display uses between 2.5 and 4.2 watts of power and sells for about $226 in Japan. That’s the good news.
The bad news is that Windows 7 Starter Edition isn’t supported, which means you might have to upgrade the OS on your netbook in order to use the display. I don’t think there’s out of the box support for Linux either, but if you’re not afraid of running a few command line codes, it looks like you might be able to get it working with Ubuntu or other Linux distributions. OS X is also supported.
One of these with a Pixel Qi display would be neat. I guess you could hack one together, but then you’d be paying roundabouts $400-500…
