The new ASRock DeskMeet is a small form-factor desktop computer that measures 6.6″ x 8.6″ x 8.6″ and which is designed to be a compact, versatile system with support for 12th-gen Intel Alder Lake or up to an AMD Ryzen 5000 desktop processor.

First announced in January, the ASRock DeskMeet is now available for purchase. Newegg is selling a barebones model compatible with AMD processors for $190, while an Intel-ready model sells for $224.

The AMD version comes with an AMD X300 motherboard featuring an AM4 socket with support for Ryzen 2000, 3000, 4000, and 5000 series processors. The Intel model has an Intel B660 series motherboard with an LGA1700 socket for 12th-gen “Alder Lake” processors.

With an internal volume of 8 liters, the DeskMeet is a little smaller than the DeskMini Max that ASRock introduced last year. But it’s not quite in attach-it-to-the-back-of-your monitor territory.

But it is still a rather compact design for a computer designed for desktop-class performance and scalability. ASRock says the motherboard was designed to minimize internal cables and the power supply was optimized with cable management and airflow in mind.

Both Intel and AMD models have 500W power supplies and support for up to 128GB of RAM and 20CM discrete graphics. The Intel model also supports up to five storage devices and including two M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4 x4 SSDs, while the AMD version tops out at three storage devices and has only a single PCIe Gen 3 x4 slot.

Both systems also have plenty of ports on the front and back panels, although somewhat disappointingly, neither the AMD nor the Intel systems seem to have Thunderbolt ports.

  1. It looked ok-ish but combination of X300 & 200mm card & 500W PSU is way too limiting … Basically in H2 2022 releasing PCIe 3.0 barebone PC with 200mm card length limit, hm… I mean RTX 3060 Ti would fit that case and wouldn’t be held back by neither board not PSU. But that means system as is to be limited to something like 30fps 4K gaming. I’d want better at this point in time.

    1. I agree completely. This PC is just too limiting. No hope of using an upgraded CPU cooler, and can’t get anything better than a 3060Ti. I would want at least a 3070.

And even the 1 or 2 models of 3060Ti available to you are going to be dual-fan models. I decided years ago that I would never buy another “mini” GPU again. Most of the smaller Mini ITX sized GPUs are going to be very loud. They are usually designed to move the same amount of air using 2 fans, instead of 3, which will require them spinning much faster.

The Dan Case A4 is 7.2L, and supports 294mm GPUs. There’s also dozens of other choices between 8L and 10L in volume, most of which offer far more than 200mm of GPU length.

  2. I’m not entirely sure who this is aimed at. There are smaller options with almost the same features. It has pcie, but a 20cm card really limits your options.

    1. Yes with only 20cm of GPU length, you are limited to a 3060 or RX 6600 bring the best GPUs you could use.

According to PCPartpicker there are no models higher than that under 200mm length.

  3. This price seems reasonable. Are there more capable options for similar size at the same price points?

  4. Once again, a really disappointing IO rear-panel on Asrock’s AMD products.

It’s only marginally better than the A300 and X300, which were heavily criticized in online communities for having a poor southbridge design due to having such a small motherboard. Shame it didn’t improve much with a larger board.

    1. This is because the A300/X300 are not really “chipsets” and don’t have a southbridge. Ryzen can run by itself as it’s a SoC, which would be a A300. X300 is just lifting overclocking limitations in the BIOS. The limited I/O is simply what’s supported directly from the Ryzen CPU/APU itself.

  5. I wonder if we could use hot computer chips to zap covid viral proteins (good airflow)

    1. And you thought of this now because…?
Well, regardless, you’re probably better off using a large oscillating fan or something. Fans can disrupt and denature virons, but a computer’s cooling fins aren’t much warmer than your internal temperature.
