Xiaomi is launching two new laptops in April that feature 11th-gen Intel Core 35-watt processors, NVIDIA’s entry-level GeForce MX450 graphics, high-resolution displays and thin and light designs that look… familiar.

Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro 15

The Xiaomi Mi Laptop Pro 14 inch is a 3.3 pound laptop with a 2.5K LCD display featuring a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 120 Hz refresh rate. It goes up for pre-order in China April 26 for about $800 and up.

Xiaomis’ new Mi Laptop Pro 15 inch is a larger model with a 3.5K OLED display and a $990 starting price. It’s up for pre-order starting today and should be available in China starting April 2.

The Mi Laptop Pro 15″ has a 16:10 aspect ratio display with a pixel density of 261 pixels per inch, support for 100-percent DCI-P3 color gamut and the ability to display more than 10 billion colors. The screen is covered in Corning Gorilla Glass and the notebook has a 93-percent screen-to-body ratio thanks to slim bezels on all sides (although the bottom bezel is thicker than the top or sides).

Other features include a 66 Wh battery, support for 100W fast charging, Thunderbolt 4 and USB-C ports, a fingerprint reader, backlit keyboard, and an aluminum body that measures 15.9mm (0.63 inches) at its thinnest point.

The 14 inch model also has Thunderbolt 4, a fingerprint reader, backlit keyboard, and aluminum body. This model is as thin as 15.6mm (0.61″) and while it also supports 100W fast charging, it has a smaller 56 Wh battery.

Both models ship standard with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of solid state storage, and both will be available with 11th-gen Intel Core i5 and Core i7 Tiger Lake H35 processor options.

Xiaomi also plans to launch a version of the Mi Laptop Pro 15 with an AMD Ryzen 5000H processor, but that model won’t be available until May.

Sadly it’s unlikely that any of these laptops will be available for purchase in North America anytime soon. While you can often find Xiaomi laptops for sale from stores that ship Chinese gadgets to international customers, the notebooks aren’t designed for use outside of China and typically ship with a Chinese language version of Windows 10 pre-installed.

  1. Almost “PRO” – a few changes to the ideal 🙂
    1. Why only a model with 16GB DDR4 3200 MHz Dual Channel? It should be basic, but real PRO in the name should get 32GB of RAM. Is RAM soldered or replaceable?
    2. Is SSD M.2 on PCIe or SATA? I hope that it’ve NVME.
    3. Great resolution (I won’t touch anything below 220 ppi ) but why OLED (great choice = best screen like a premium) doesn’t have a High Refresh display? at least 90Hz?
    4. Why only weakest version hasn’t dedicated GPU? I am looking for something with a powerful CPU but no GPU. I hope there will be more choice with AMD CPU versions.
My opinion is inaudible to Xiaomi, but I think so many consumers feel the same. Accomplishing the above four points is the key to success (the best home multimedia notebook).

    1. 1 – Yes, it’s dual channel.
16GB DDR4-3200MHz Dual Channel is now an industry standard. It is also soldered, no option to upgrade or increase memory.
2- The SSD is nVme based. Don’t know which model they would use, I think it would be one of the cheaper modules (ie Not-Samsung).
3- OLED for the “wow” factor. There really isn’t any OLED displays in the market that are High Refresh. Phone displays are a different breed, and for monitors, many people have started using OLED TVs instead like a PC Monitor.
4- Trust me, you want that MX-450 dGPU. It’s pretty crappy experience with AMD’s old Vega iGPU, Intel’s old Iris iGPU, or Intel’s new Xe iGPU. What’s worst is there isn’t any option for a BETTER dGPU. I would set the baseline with the GTX 1650-MaxQ, and the midline with something better (but nothing decent available yet, like a 8GB RTX 3060-MaxP 64W).

      Bonus:
Don’t wait for AMD. I don’t think there’s going to be much in terms of performance gains, and battery life extension. And even worse, you would lose the ThunderBolt-4 port. That is detrimental, as it means not possible to the eGPUs. AMD has been half-arsing their laptop efforts, so it might be valuable to wait another generation or two. Or just get whatever you want/need now, stick with it, and complain. That’s what I’m going to do.

  2. WOW! Mi Laptop Pro 15 inch is a larger model with a 3.5K -> perfect resolution!! and oled!! But why not 90 hz or 120 hz 🙁 Today is very important feature :}
I hope that notebook with amd get 32 Gb RAM. My company (poster design) work in gimp / adobe / corel needs it like a fish of water. For virtualization it is basic 😉
