There’s another tiny desktop computer on the way that measures just 2.4″ x 2.4″ x 1.7″ and the newest model is the most powerful yet.

The upcoming 4K mini PC from Shenzhen GMK Tech is the same size as the Chuwi LarkBox and XCY X51 mini PCs, and it has the same port selection as those models.

But Shenzhen GMK Tech says its little computer has the highest-performance processor of the bunch. It also has the smallest power adapter.

The GMK 4K mini PC isn’t available for purchase yet, but GMK plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign for the little computer in August.

Update 8/04/2020: The little PC will be called the GMK NucBox, and it will have a retail price of $209, but backers of the Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign will be able to reserve one for $159 and up

The system is powered by an Intel Celeron J4125 processor which is an energy-efficient 10-watt processor based on Intel Atom architecture. The 4-core, 4-thread chip isn’t exactly a speed demon and this little computer probably isn’t the best choice for resource-intensive tasks like gaming, video editing, or 3D design.

But the chip should be able to handle 4K video playback, which is why GMK calls this a 4K mini PC. And with higher CPU frequencies than those used in the Chuwi LarkBox’s Celeron J4115 processor, the GMK mini PC should be a little faster than the LarkBox… and significantly faster than the XCY X51, which has a slower Intel Celeron N4100 6-watt, quad-core processor.

Here’s a comparison of the three 2.4-inch mini PCs.

  1. There is something that I would like to know, is the storage will be ssd or emmc ? on numerous websites it says it will be emmc but on yours and gmk website it says ssd.

      1. I had to dig really deep into the comments section of Larkbox to get it. Here you go.

        skynew jp

        The product name is skynew-m1t

        1. Awesome! The reason I was asking for, as I expected, they have some other designs I fancy more than this particular one and it’s easier to survey just one Japanese site than dozens of Chinese ones for some solid designs, then finding the Chinese original via reverse image search. I hope you could follow me. 🙂

        2. For example I like this one, with the 8th generation Intel Core processor in what looks like a fanless case: https://www.skynew.jp/SHOP/skynew-s3.html

Now how do I find the same thing on AliExpress? A Google reverse image search only brought up Chinese results. Which is strange, as this model looks like one of those typical Chines mini PCs.

  2. So what’s going on? Did the design documents/schematics for the Larkbox get released on the Chinese internet?

    1. Same as Ace PC, one company did the design and engineering work and several companies did the branding and marketing activities.

    2. I think it’s called ODMs (original design manufacturer) who actually designs and produces a product and companies slap their name on it. I believe even large companies use ODMs too for some products like HP.

  3. Isn’t it pretty obvious that those are all the same thing, probably from the same factory, just reconfigured with different off-the-shelf pin-compatible components?
