  1. @Brad, this is OFF to the deals post, but I have this general observation/tip for your blog’s comment section. I find the public upvotes/downvotes, especially the downvotes totally discouraging and demoralizing for someone to form a non-mainstream opinion at all. I like that this place is not Reddit where you seek popularity by forming an opinion that everybody agrees on and upvotes you. So why make this comment section like Reddit? What’s your take?

    1. This has come up a few times — but honestly, I usually forget that the upvotes and downvotes even exist until someone mentions this. I just don’t pay much attention to them.

      Maybe I’ll run a poll one upcoming weekend to see what the consensus is — I honestly have no idea if the feature is popular or not.
