One Netbook’s next tiny laptop will be… a little less tiny. The maker of the One Mix Yoga and One Mix 2 Yoga is starting to reveal details about it’s upcoming One Mix 3.

While the first two models had 7 inch displays, the new model will have an 8.4 inch, 2560 x 1600 pixel display. It’s powered by an Intel Core m3-8100Y processor, and like its predecessors it’ll have a backlit keyboard, a touchscreen display, a 360-degree hinge, and support for an optional stylus.

One Netbook is currently running a beta test for the One Mix 3 with a small group of testers, and the company plans to release the little laptop sometime around June.

Here’s what we know about the One Mix 3 so far:

  • 8.4 inch, 2560 x 1600 pixel display (16:10 aspect ratio)
  • 10-point multitouch support + pen support (4096 levels of pressure sensitivity)
  • 360 degree hinge
  • Intel Core m3-8100Y processor
  • 8GB LPDDR3 RAM
  • 256GB or 512GB of PCIe NVMe storage + additional M.2 slot for second SSD and/or 4G LTE module (Update: or not. One Netbook now says this slot is for an SSD only)
  • 8,600 mAh battery
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Backlit keyboard
  • USB Type-C port
  • microSD card reader
  • 204mm x 129mm x 14.9mm (8″ x 5.1″ x 0.59″)
  • 659 grams (1.5 pounds)

By comparison, the One Mix 2S Yoga I reviewed last year measures 7.2″ x 4.3″ x 0.67″ and weighs about 1.2 pounds, which makes the new model a little wider, but thinner than its predecessor.

The few photos I’ve seen so far also seem to show that while the new model still has a small keyboard, there’s a little more space between the keys which could make typing a little more comfortable.

2019 is shaping up to be an interesting year for mini laptops. Rival device maker GPD is set to launch the 8.9 inch Pocket 2 Max this year, as well as the AMD Ryzen-powered, gaming-friendly GPD Win Max.

  1. This is great for the small mobile PC fans. I wonder if One Netbook plans on going towards the smaller direction for other devices. I’m personally in the handheld thumb usage camp and would like to see more competition there.

  2. Wow, thats a powerhouse of a specs list. NVMe storage, with a spare M.2 slot is a crazy unexpected plus. I’m afraid to ask what the price is.

  3. Will wait for next year when they finally come
out with something at 10″ where the old netbooks
    standardized on.

    1. Yep, I agree. Preferably an amd. That resolution on 8” would just be an eye sore, not even usable without scaling.

  4. The keyboard seems to be redesigned a bit. At least , . / are of normal size now and ` is missing from the top left corner.
The don’t have a palmrest, so I’m not sure about it. Right now I’m typing it on Mix 2 with my thumbs, holding it like a gamepad, but on a 8.4″ I’d need a palmrest for sure, like on Pocket 2 Max.
On the other hand, still being bricky may indicate they’re still using the same 5V batteries, with the battery capacity being 43 Wh. Or not. Who knows.

I kinda think it’s not going to be as meaningfully different from already available not-atom 7″ as Pocket 2 Max is going to be.

  5. Problem is in battery. 2h of serious use top, and that’s a problem. Yes 20.000 mah battery would make this thing heavier and bulkier.
But would you buy laptop that would have 2h of juice?
It similar to some electric cars, low “refuel” costs, but 30 miles you can make are pointless.

    1. Yeah, people are buying laptops with 35W TDP CPUs and 50-60 Wh batteries all the time. A 5W TDP CPU on a 30-40 Wh battery will last arguably longer.
The thing is that users do not tend to run laptops at 95-100% of CPU/GPU for a significant amount of time when unplugged.

And where from you’ve got that 30 miles for electric? I’m not from that crowd by all means, but even Chinese offroad electric scooters manage to pack this range.

  6. I’m happy that UMPCs and netbooks are making a comeback! It’d be great if there were a 16 GB RAM option (mostly for VMs).

      1. This device is a 2 and 1. The lid folds the way back for tablet mode. Or are you implying this device isn’t “decent”?

  7. If this becomes available on Amazon Prime (sold by Amazon as well), then I’d definitely get one.

    1. If the LTE version is sold directly by Amazon on Prime, then I’d definitely buy it.

    2. Yeah, I’d feel safer if I could get this from Amazon Prime.

I recall Gearbest getting hacked and people’s personal information was leaked. I’m guessing Aliexpress/Alibaba probably doesn’t take security very seriously either.

  8. Looks like there’re at least 2 color variants. I’m liking the all black over the all silver one. The backlit keyboard and a 360-degree hinge are great. It seems the keyboard will have at least semi-normal keys this time.

  9. Nice. What bands does the 4G LTE support? I don’t want to tether my phone.

    1. Wondering the same. Also wondering how much would the LTE version cost.

    2. I wonder if it comes with a SIM slot and you can later install an LTE modem later. It seems there’s a separate M.2 slot for the LTE modem or another SSD.

    3. There are M.2 LTE modems. They might sell one, but you can buy your own and support any 4G or 5G bands you want

      1. I think the One Mix would still need the SIM slot available for their non-LTE models. At least I haven’t seen M.2/mPCIe modems with built in SIM slots.

I think it’s similar with the antennas. I guess you can tape down antennas wherever they fit but it’d be optimal if they’re pre-installed (ie. routed in the lid or some other better place.

    4. With the built-in 4G, this is the best UMPC/netbook for me so far. Can’t wait until this is released.

    5. Really excited about the One Mix 3 and the Chuwi Minibook. It’s got LTE (a biggie for me) and tablet mode.

    6. Excited for one of these modern netbooks having builtin LTE. Can’t wait to get one.

      1. So it looks like One Netbook is backtracking on the LTE support. I think someone had assumed the M.2 slot would be enough to let you add one yourself, but without an antenna and SIM card reader, there’s probably not much point.

  10. So it’s just the 2S but with a bigger screen. Why give it the name of 3 though?

      1. I use an old 4:3 Lenovo T60 every day around home and a 3:2 Chuwi LapBook 12.3 for travel – but I think those ratios begin to detract from portability when you get to sub-10″ displays. 16:10 seems a reasonable compromise. With one of these things finally offering a backlit keyboard along with the slightly larger display, this device has a recipe I’d consider buying.

      2. Didnt say anything about aspect ratio. Why the hell would you want an 8.4 inch, 2560 x 1600 pixel display? On a low powered machine that will already have trouble pushing graphics at 1080p?

    1. Why? Windows has pretty great scaling now. With that and this resolution, content on the screen would look better compared to a lower resolution screen.

Plus, I’m guessing it was cheaper for the OEM to source these. I’m assuming it’s a tablet screen that’s manufactured in larger quantities compared to others.

      1. Yea, but the BATTERY still has to light and animate all those pixels and pixel binning looks like shit on windows scaling and the crappy GFX card will have a harder time running that resolution. Its stupid, there is NO BENEFIT to such a high resolution tiny display, nothing but negative aspects.
