Motorola’s Moto G7 made its North American debut last month. The company’s upcoming Razr phone could be a premium device with a foldable display coming later this year.

But what about the Moto Z series with its support for Moto Mod add-ons? It looks like an update is on the way.

The folks at 91mobiles got their hands on some Motorola marketing materials which give us a pretty good idea of what to expect from the Moto Z4.

The phone is said to have a 6.4 inch, full HD OLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor, and it’s expected to come in two memory/storage configurations: 4GB/64GB or 6GB/128GB.

The Moto Z4 is expected to have a 48MP rear camera and a 25MP front-facing camera, both of which support quad-pixel technology that can combine data from four pixels into a single large pixel for higher-quality 12MP (rear camera) or 6MP (front camera) pictures. The phone is also said to have a Night Vision feature, which may be the company’s answer to Google’s Night Sight.

Other features are expected to include a 3,600 mAh battery, a USB Type-C ports, and a headphone jack. Like all Moto Z phones to date, it’ll have a 16-pin Pogo pin connector on the back that allows you to attach Moto Mods including the recently launched Verizon 5G Moto Mod.

While the specs aren’t all that impressive by modern flagship standards, the Moto Z4 isn’t expected to have a modern flagship price tag. At a time when Samsung, Apple, and Google are selling phones for $800 and up, the Moto Z4 is expected to sell for around “half the price” of other flagships.

Keep in mind that none of these details have been confirmed by Motorola, so we’ll have to wait for an official announcement to find out how accurate the report from 91mobiles is.

  1. ugh i wish they’d release a Moto E level device with Moto mod support.. just a cheap reliable phone. I can easily find a used Moto Z, but all of them have terrible screen burn-in I guess manufacturers are just interested in the phones as disposable as possible..

  2. Same as the others here. I’m expecting the shatterproof screen or jumping to Pixel. I started with MZ2 as well for this reason. Great phone, love the twist and chop and mods.

  3. Exciting. It’d be nice if Moto reaffirmed their commitment to Mods.

It’ll be my next phone if they put a shatterproof display on it like they did with the Z2 Force. Mods look like they only make sense without a case, and I’m completely burned on phones breaking on me.

    1. No microSD card slot and a poor record when it comes to security updates. I like the idea of the Mods, but they need to get the basics down before they start getting fancy.

    2. Exactly this, I bought the Moto Z 2 Force exactly because I was tired of breaking displays. It has become very important for me to have a durable display. I’m satisfied with my Z2 Force, I’ve had it for almost two years and I would keep faithful with the mod family but I would need two things of the next Moto Z: shatterproof display and a faster processor.

I have been keeping up with the updates in the Moto Z line and while I applaud the bigger display, I really dislike the glass back and front, and the fact that the processor is not what anyone would want.
