Samsung’s Galaxy S10 phones are expected to feature punch holes in the display rather than notches when they launch next year. But the company isn’t waiting until then to launch a phone with an “Infinity-O” display featuring a small hole around the camera.

Meet the Samsung Galaxy A8s.

Not only will the Galaxy A8s be one of the first phones with a hole instead of a notch or top bezel, but it’s also the first phone powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, a chip that was unveiled earlier this year and which is aimed at upper mid-range smarphones.

The phone supports 6GB or 8GB of RAM and features 128GB of storage. It has a 3,400 mAh battery, a rear fingerprint sensor, a USB-C port, and fast charging support.

There’s a triple-camera setup on the back of the phone, with a 24MP primary camera, a 10MP telephoto lens, and a 5MP depth-sensing lens.

But it’s the front of the phone that’s most distinctive.

The Samsung Galaxy A8s has a 6.4 inch, 2340 x 1080 pixel display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and slim borders on the top and sides. There’s a bit of a chin at the bottom, but it’s not very large. The front-facing camera can snap 24MP photos.

Samsung is taking pre-orders for the Galaxy A8S in China and it should ship later this month. But there’s no word on if or when you’ll be able to get one in other markets.

  1. That 6.4 inch, 23040 x 1080 pixel display is gonna be had to use in portrait mode. 😁

  2. I think I would rather have the Nokia 8.1 if it comes to the US. The Samsung might have a bit better camera but the Nokia has expandable storage and is an Android One phone. Samsung does not have a very good reputation for updating phones that are not part of their flagship series.

    1. Have they gotten better about updating their flagships at least? I haven’t used a Samsung since the SGS4 and they were brutal back then, but I’m trying to decide between a couple of phones right now and the Note 9 is honestly very tempting.
