Daily Deals (12-06-2018)

12/06/2018 at 12:54 PM by Brad Linder 2 Comments

A Microsoft Office 365 Home subscription lets you install Office on PCs, Macs, tablets, and phones for up to 6 different people in your household, and each user gets 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage as part of the deal.

While I’m not entirely sold on the prospect of paying a subscription for software you might not need to upgrade every year, at $100/year, that’s not a bad deal for households with multiple users.

You know what’s an even better deal though? $55 for a 12-month subscription. That’s how much Amazon is charging until the end of the day.

The $55 Microsoft subscription seems like a decent deal but it’s definitely along the lines of ‘the first one is free’. Though in this case $55 is not free. But the question remains. How much does it cost you the year after that and the year after that?
They are counting on the fact that once you are ensconced in that ecosystem and have your documents and storage there then it is more valuable to stay there rather than deal with moving everything somewhere else.
And they are right. That would be a hassle. Perhaps think about setting yourself up initially someplace without trapping yourself under the burden of future potential rent.
Of course one never knows the future of anything. But my bet is this MS subscription service doesn’t become free all too soon.

As someone posing as a licensing expert, you should know by now that Office 365 has been active since 2011 and the scenarios you have given have been addressed many times.

You should probably do yourself a favor and google and read them before spouting your lack of knowledge all over the internet.
