Amazon introduced a new version of its Fire HD 8 tablet today, with prices starting at $80. But it’s a pretty modest upgrade over last year’s version. If you don’t need the upgraded microSD card slot, front-facing camera, or hands-free Alexa features, you might as well look for a bargain on the 2017 model because it’s pretty much the same thing.
Oh, and as it happens, Amazon is running one of those deals today: you can pick up a previous-gen Fire HD 8 with 32GB of storage for $90. That’s about $20 less than the price of a 2018 model with 32GB.
