Nearly a year after launch, the google Pixelbook is still one of the best Chromebooks money can buy. With a list price of $999 and up, it’s also one of the most expensive.
But at the moment Google is selling an entry-level PixelBook for $799, and Best Buy is running an even better deal: you can pick one up for $749.
That’s still a lot of money by Chromebook standards, but it’s not bad for a 12.3 inch convertible with a 2400 x 1600 pixel touchscreen display, an Intel Core i7 Kaby Lake-Y processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 360-degree hinge, active pen support (pen sold separately), and a chassis that measures 0.4 inches thick and which weighs just under 2.5 pounds.
On the other hand, if you’re willing to cut a few corners, you can pick up a Samsung Chromebook Pro for just $480 today, or a Samsung Chromebook Plus for $400.

Chromebooks make excellent Linux laptops. $750 is still a little too much to bite for the Pixelbook, though. Maybe when it gets older and dips into the $500-600 range, it’ll be worth it.
