HP is updating the EliteBook x360 business-class convertible notebook with a new model that features smaller bezels for a more compact design, a CNC unibody aluminum chassis, and an option for a much brighter display.

The new HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3 goes on sale in June for $1,449 and up.

The laptop measures about 12″ x 8.1″ x 0.6″ and weighs about 2.8 pounds. While that makes the new model about the same weight as its predecessor, it has an overall smaller footprint thanks to side bezels that are half the size of those on the 2nd-gen model, and a bottom bezel (or “chin”) that’s 39 percent smaller.

The new notebook features two Thunderbolt 3/USB Type-C ports, a USB 3.1 Type-A port, HDMI and headset jacks, and a nano SIM card slot on models with integrated 4G LTE support.

HP will offer up to 16GB off DDR3-2133 memory and up to 2TB of PCIe NVMe storage. And the laptop is available with a number of processor options, including Core i5-8250U, Core i5-8350U with vPro, Core i7-8550U, and Core i7-8650U with vPro.

The EliteBook x360 1030 G3 is available with 1080p or 4K touchscreen display options. The dimmest display HP offers still supports 400 nits of brightness, while the company also has an outdoor-visible 700 nit screen option.

The computer has a 360-degree hinge that allows you to use it in notebook, tablet, tent, or stand modes. And it also supports a digital pen which attaches to the side of the notebook magnetically.

Other features include 4 B&O certified speakers, a 1080p camera with IR camera support for facial recognition, a multi-array microphone setup, and a spill-resistant backlit keyboard.

The notebook has a 56.2 Whr battery, and HP says you can charge both the laptop and its digital pen using a USB Type-C adapter.

Speaking of the pen, it offers proximity alerts, letting you know if you’ve walked too far away from the pen so you don’t accidentally leave it in a room when you leave.

  1. Can we get a review for this Brad? Seems like it’s available for purchase but I haven’t seen reviews anywhere yet.

  2. This looked cool, until I saw the $1449 and up price tag. Ouch! That costs more than my first car.
