There are a lot of thin and light laptops on the market these days, but the LG Gram line of notebooks take the lightweight thing to kind of ridiculous proportions. Not only does the company offer a 13.3 inch model that weighs 2.1 pounds, but the latest 15.6 inch version is just about 2.4 pounds.

The only catch is these notebooks don’t typically come cheap. I’m in the process of reviewing a 15 inch LG Gram laptop that the company sent me this week, and so far I’m quite impressed at how compact this computer feels in spite of its large display. I’m less impressed with the $1,999 list price for the configuration LG sent me.

But there are cheaper options. A model with a Core i5-8250U processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage normally sells for $1250… but today Amazon is selling it for about $200 off.

If that’s still more money than you’re willing to spend on a laptop, the Microsoft Store has some great deals on entry-level convertibles today. You can pick up an Acer Spin 1 for $249 or an Asus VivoBook Flip 14 for $299.

Here are some of the day’s best deals.

  1. The only way I’d spend over $1000 for a laptop is for a Macbook or Macbook Air

  2. Those LG laptops are awful expensive when you consider the battery is not replaceable.

    1. That’s true of most modern laptops. The good news is that so far it looks like I’m getting around 7-9 hours of battery life from the model I’m testing. That falls short of LG’s claims, but it’s still pretty good… suggesting you should be able to hang onto this for a few years before the battery life becomes intolerable.

      1. Most modern laptop batteries are not replaceable, but most laptops purchased do not cost $2,000. The cost per year is a bit high.

          1. Sorry I was not clear. I am also cheap. I usually pick up refurbished Dell business laptops. Not even close to the $1050 price of the featured model. Sure, they are not super slim, but work very well.
