The Microsoft Surface Laptop is a sleek-looking computer and one of the only notebooks you can buy that comes with a 13.5 inch, 2256 x 1504 pixel toucshcreen display and support for Microsoft’s Surface Pen and Surface Dial accessories.

But with a starting price of $999 at launch, the Surface Laptop was a bit too pricey for some.

Earlier this year the company launched a $799 model with a less powerful processor. And today Best Buy is selling that already-cheaper model for just $699, which makes the Surface Laptop look a lot more attractive.

While the Core M3-7Y30 processor isn’t exactly a beast, it’s the same chip GPD chose for its $699 GPD Win 2 handheld gaming laptop, which offers surprisingly decent performance (albeit on a smaller, lower-resolution display).

  1. For $699, this looks like a pretty good deal. Nice 13.5 inch size, light weight and rated at over 14 hours of battery life. I also like the traditional clamshell design, rather than the Surface ‘Tablet’ detatchable screen that needs a kickstand to keep it from falling down. The only problem I see is the Windows 10 “S” operating system that will cost money to upgrade later.
