Remember when cellphones had batteries that would last for days, or even a week or so on a charge? That was before phones got “smart.” These days you’re lucky to find a phone that can go 24 hours between charges.

While my Google Pixel 2 is the first smartphone I’ve ever owned that can actually last from morning through night without charging in between, I still make sure to carry a portable battery pack with me whenever I’m traveling, since I like the security of knowing I’ll be able to charge the battery in an emergency, even if I’m not near an outlet. It’s also a sort of security blanket that makes it feel safer to actually use the phone on the go, since I’m not worried that it’ll run out of juice if I spend a little time playing Classic Words or checking Facebook.

Anyway, right now Amazon has a couple of nice deals on portable battery packs, including a 10,000 mAh battery that you can pick up for just $9.

Here are some of the day’s best deals.

  1. Excellent price for a new Yoga Book. The Android version works extremely well and is the tablet-that-can-do-notebooky-things-in-a-pinch device that I had hoped other devices could do.

  2. My phone does last for days, because it has a Snapdraggon 625. It’s about as fast as an LG G4.

    1. Yup, I’ve got a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 with a SD 625, 5.5″ 1080×1920 display, and a 4100 mAh battery. In May 2017 it cost $158 USD (before 10% sales tax) in Jakarta. (You peeps in the USA are getting ripped-off big time on smart phone prices). With moderate use It goes for days on a charge. The problem is the MiUI software overlay, which can be replaced. Or you might be able to get an Android One Xiaomi Mi A1 which is pretty much the same device but with essentially stock Android. But I don’t know if Android One in the US locks your device into the Google Fi thing or not.
