Amazon’s sale on week-long sale on Fire tablets, Echo speakers, and Kindle eReaders end tomorrow, which means that you’re almost out of time if you want to pick up a Fire tablet for $40, a Fire HD 8 for $60, an Echo for $100, or a Kindle for $60.

I picked up an Amazon Fire HD 8 earlier this summer, and after installing the Google Play Store, adding an SD card, and removing Amazon apps I didn’t need, I’ve been very happy with the tablet.

  1. There’s considerable lag loading (or switching between) books on a Fire 8, using the Kindle app. That might depend on the size of the book. I’ve tried turning off autosync to see if that helps, but it didn’t help much. Other than that, I too am happy with it–but only after installing the Google Play Store.
