Samsung is one of the only companies that continues to crank out Android tablets with iPad-like prices. Case in point? Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab S3 tablet is coming soon… and while you can’t buy one yet, a listing on the Best Buy website shows that it’ll have a $600 price tag when it hits store shelves.

First unveiled at the end of February, the Galaxy Tab S3 features a 9.7 inch, 2048 x 1536 pixel AMOLED display and a Samsung S-Pen for pressure-sensitive input.

It’s got the same kind of hardware you’d expect to find in a flagship Android phone… from early 2016. There’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage.

Other features include a USB 3.1 Type-C port, a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, a microSD card slot, and a 6,000 mAh battery.

The tablet is basically like an Android-powered alternative to Apples iPad Pro 9.7. It has the same screen size and resolution, the same price, and the same distinctive feature: a digital pen. But it’s a little unclear whether anyone other than Apple can get away with charging $600 and up for a non-Windows tablet these days.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Galaxy Tab S3 gets a price cut or at least goes on sale soon after launch.

  1. Where is the 8 inch version?!? That is what many of us have been waiting for. An 8 inch version (top level tablet with stylus) to replace the ancient Galaxy Note 8.0. This seems like a complete waste of a great opportunity if they don’t field a replacement for that tablet. Nobody has an equivalent at this time and their last Galaxy Note phone was a complete disaster…

  2. It seems odd to see a 10 inch tablet designed for portrait use. I would expect the touch controls to be orientied for landscape.

  3. wow. that’s 2x the Asus version with similar specs: QXGA (1536 x 2048) 9.7″ display; pen support (sold separately for $40 or so); 4GB RAM, 64GB storage; 5 & 8 MP cameras; MTK MT8176 Dual-Core 2.1 GHz +Quad-Core 1.7 GHz , 64bit CPU. All for $299.

    1. This has Wacom EMR–still the best stylus tech; in some ways superior to Apple pencil.

      The Asus stylus is dreadful.

  4. Samsung tablets have always been made of cheap plastic. For $600 I would expect metal like Apple.

  5. So, iPad priced, but with last year’s hardware, a smaller library of useable or worthwhile tablet apps, and an OS that will get updates for a year, at most. Sounds like a great deal! A day 1 buy!
