LG Gram 2017 ultralight notebooks go on sale for $1000 and up

02/24/2017 at 11:45 AM by Brad Linder Leave a Comment

The latest LG Gram laptops are now available for purchase in the US, with prices starting at $1,000 for an entry-level model.

LG’s Gram line of computers get their name from their extraordinarily light weight: historically the laptops have weighed about one kilogram, or roughly 2.2 pounds.

The new 2017 models LG unveiled at CES come in a few different sizes and shapes, with some models weighing as little as 2.1 pounds, and other as “much” as 2.4 pounds. But they’re all surprisingly compact: not only are they lightweight, but each model also has slim screen bezels, which means that they’re smaller than most 13, 14, or 15 inch laptops.

Here’s an overview of some of the new models launching today:

Keep in mind that it’s usually a good idea to take battery life claims with a grain of salt, but LG has lowered the estimated run time from the 24-hour estimate the company had previously offered.

LG also unveiled some even lighter LG Gram laptops at CES in January. Those models have smaller batteries and weigh as little as 1.8 pounds. But there’s no word on if or when you’ll be able to pick one up in the US.
