The war on screen bezels continues, and Lenovo’s new entry comes in the form of a phone with an 86.4 percent screen-to-body ratio. Lenovo sub-brand ZUK has launched a 5.5 inch Android phone for China called the ZUK Edge, and it has super-thin bezels on the left and right sides of the screen, as well as reasonably compact top and bottom borders.
While the ZUK Edge isn’t quite as eye-catching as Xiaomi’s Mi Mix, it’s also not as expensive. The ZUK Edge will sell for about $330 and up when it hits China in early 2017.
The phone has a 5.5 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel curved glass display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, a 13MP rear camera with phase-detection autofocus, an 8MP front camera, and a 3,100 mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
It has a fingerprint sensor, a USB Type-C port, and a headphone jack. There’s also a heart rate sensor below the camera, if that’s something you care about.
An entry-level model features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage for ¥2,299, or about $330. Ther’s also a version with 6GB of RAM ¥2,499 ($360).
Lenovo tends to sell phones in the US and Europe under its Motorola and/or Lenovo brand names, so it’s unlikely that we’ll see the ZUK Edge outside of Asia anytime soon.
