Acer’s new all-in-one desktop PCs look more like displays than fully functional computers. The Acer Aspire C desktops come with a choice of 21.5 inch or 23.8 inch displays, and both models have bezels that are just under a third of an inch thick.
The company offers models with up to 8GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, and a choice of Intel Celeron or Core i3 processors. But one of the most surprising things about these all-in-one desktops is that Acer plans to offer models with a choice of three different operating systems.
Acer says customers will be able to select models with Windows 10, Linpus Simple Linux, or FreeDOS.
While I suspect there aren’t a lot of people who would call FreeDOS or Linpus their operating system of choice, it does open up the door for buying a computer that ships without a Windows license to save a few bucks and install an alternate operating system.
Right now there are only two models available though, and they both come with Windows 10 Home:
- Aspire C22 with a 21.5 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel display, a Celeron J3160 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB hard drive for $450
- Aspire AC24 with a 23.8 inch full HD screen, Core i3-6100U CPU, 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive for $700
