Walmart-owned streaming video service Vudu has been letting customers rent or purchase movies and TV shows for years. But now you can watch (some) for free.

Today the company launched “Vudu Movies On Us,” which is basically an ad-supported video streaming service with a catalog of several thousand movies and TV shows.

Videos stream at 1080p resolution and you can watch in a web browser, an IOS or Android device, or on supported TV boxes including Roku, Chromecast, Android TV devices, and some smart TVs and Blu-ray players.

One platform that’s notably missing? Amazon’s Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. There’s currently no Vudu app for those devices, which isn’t surprising for a service that comes from Amazon rival Walmart.

You can find free videos in Vudu by selection the Movies On Us tab, or by looking for any title marked “Free with Ads.” You’ll need to sign up for a Vudu account before you can stream anything.

Vudu seems to be offering a pretty wide range of titles from a variety of genres, including classics and films from the past few years. Just don’t expect to find any new releases. You’ll have to pay if you want access to those.

Movies On Us is available exclusively in the US… which isn’t surprising, since Vudu is already a US-only service.
