Microsoft is launching an updated Surface Book 2-in-1 laptop. It’s called the Surface Book i7 and the company says it offers twice the graphics performance available from the original model… but it also offers 30 percent longer battery life.
In order to pack more power into the 13.5 inch laptop, Microsoft’s Panos Panay says the entire thermal system of the laptop was re-designed to include a second fan under the hood and hyperbaric cooling.
The new model offers up to 16 hours of battery life, and like its predecessor, the new Surface Book i7 is a 2-in-1 laptop with a detachable touchscreen display and support for a Microsoft Surface Pen.
The new laptop goes up for pre-order today for $2,399 and up and begins shipping November 10th..
The $1499 “entry-level” model will continue to be available, as will Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablets, with prices starting at $899 (although the latest models are often on sale for less… especially since Microsoft does not appear to be updating its tablets this fall).
Right now a model with a Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage is selling for $1350.
