Flip phones may seem old school in the US and Europe, but Samsung and LG are keeping the dream alive in Asia, where the two companies continue to crank out folding phones with numeric keypads, touchscreen displays, and Google Android software.
Samsung’s latest model is called the Galaxy Folder 2, and it’s a clamshell phone with a 3.8 inch, 800 x 480 pixel display, a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage.
The Galaxy Folder is available exclusively in China at launch. While I wouldn’t be surprised to see it make the jump to Korea or other Asian markets, I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for the phone to head to the Western Hemisphere.
Other features include a 1,950 mAh battery, an 8MP rear camera and 5MP front camera, a microSD card slot, dual SIM card support, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, and a micro USB port.
