Internet radio pioneer Pandora plans to launch a $10-per-month music-on-demand service that will compete with, well, all the other similar products with a similar price (including Spotify, Google Play, Apple Music, and so on).

But while Pandora’s on-demand music service isn’t ready to go just yet, the company is launching a major update to its $5 internet radio service which lets you create personalized radio stations (you don’t get to choose which song comes next, but you can influence the song selection by giving songs a thumbs up or thumbs down).

Pandora One is going away, and Pandora Plus will take its place.

So what’s the difference? Like its predecessor, Pandora Plus will let you stream unlimited music without hearing ads. But now you don’t just get the ability to skip more songs in your stream, you get unlimited skipping. Pandora Plus also offers higher-quality audio streaming and an improved offline mode.

If you’re using Pandora Plus on a smartphone, the service will automatically save your thumbprint radio playlist, allowing you to listen any time even if you lose your internet connection. It’ll also save the other three stations you’ve listened to most recently. Then if you lose your internet connection unexpectedly while streaming music, Pandora will automatically switch to one of those stations.

Yeah, it sounds like a waste of storage space if this isn’t a feature you expect to use often. But it could also come in handy if your internet signal tends to drop out frequently while you’re streaming music.
