Taiwanese device manufacturer Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) has a new 12 inch Windows tablet with a full HD display, a Cherry Trail processor, support for pen input, and support for up to 8GB of RAM.
The ECS 12″ mPad is listed on the company’s website and it recently passed through the FCC website… but odds are that the tablet will have a different name if and when it goes on sale in the United States.
It also looks like a product that’s probably destined for commercial applications, so don’t expect it to be cheap.
For the most part ECSÂ products are manufactured on contract for another company, which then sells them under its own name.
Specs for the 12″ mPad design include:
- 12 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel LCD display
- Intel Atom x5-Z8550 Cherry Trail processor
- 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WiFi
- Bluetooth 4.0
- GPS
- NFC
- microSD card slot
- micro USB 3.0 type-B port
- Stereo 1 watt speakers
- Docking port (for docking station with HDMI, USB, and AC inputs)
- 8MP rear and 2MP front cameras
- 12,600 mAh battery (46.62 Whr)
The spec sheet says the tablet is available with 2GB to 8GB of RAM and 32GB to 64GB of eMMC storage.
It also has an active digitizer with support for pressure-sensitive pen input.
There are also modules on the sides of the tablet that you can use to attach a smart card reader, Gigabit Ethernet, cellular module or barcode scanner… which is why I get the feeling this tablet isn’t really designed for consumers.
The ECS 12″ mPad measures 12.2″ x 8.1″ x 0.6″ and weighs 2.3 pounds.
