Amazon’s Dash buttons are small, internet-connected gadgets with one use: press a button to place an order for products you need to re-order regularly. Running out of toilet paper, toothpaste, or laundry detergent? There are buttons for that. Cat food and condoms too, among many other things.

First offered only in the US, Amazon is now offering Dash buttons for select items in Germany, Austria, and the UK.

The international Dash buttons work pretty much the same way as the US versions: set them up, place them in a convenient place, and press them when you want to place an order. The only real difference is the selection of brands available and the prices… kind of.

In the US, a Dash button costs $4.99. In EU countries, it’s €4.99. And in the UK, it’s £4.99. Due to exchange rates, that makes a UK button the most expensive (about $6.55), and the US version the cheapest… except that Amazon will give you a $4.99/€4.99/£4.99 credit the first time you place an order with a button… so they’re basically free as long as you use them at least once.

Amazon is also offering Dash Replenishment services, allowing appliance makers to incorporate the same sorts of features into products like washing machines and coffee makers. There’s no word on whether Amazon will offer its developer-friendly, programmable Dash button outside the US.
