The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro will be one of the first phones to feature Google’s Tango technology for mapping 3D environments so that you can use apps that do things like measure distances, show you what a room would look like if you redecorated, or allow you to play games that incorporate your physical surroundings.

It’s also one of the first phones Lenovo is expected to sell in the US under its own name. The company owns Motorola Mobility, so technically all recent Moto phones are also Lenovo phones, but the company also sells phones under its own name in China and other parts of the world.

The Phab 2 Pro is expected to launch in September, and it may have just passed through the FCC on its way to store shelves. Or maybe it did that a few weeks ago.

Documents for a “Lenovo Mobile Phone” with the model number PB2-650Y are now available at the FCC website, as well as documents for a PB2-690Y model that showed up a few weeks ago.

It’s not entirely clear if these are two variants of the same phone, or possibly something else altogether. Lenovo does have members of the Phab 2 family that are not “Pro” models with Google Tango 3D sensing technology. But so far the company hasn’t announced plans to offer any of those other models in the United States (although Lenovo does have a habit of submitting phones to the FCC for approval even if they never go on sale in the States).

Whichever listing is for the Phab 2 Pro, the documents don’t tell us much that we didn’t already know about the phone, but they do confirm that it supports dual-band 802.11b/g/n WiFi, and Bluetooth, GSM and WCDMA networks, and 4G LTE bands 2/4/5/7/12/13/17…. although it’s possible that we’re only looking at one model of the phone and that versions with support for other network bands could also be in the works.
