The developers of the Vivaldi web browser are targeting power users, and the latest version of the browser certainly has some features aimed at people who like to customize their browsing experience.

Vivaldi 1.2 adds support for editable mouse gestures, for instance. Just choose the action you want to perform like “history back,” or “close tab in background” and then draw a gesture with your mouse and click the save button.

Vivaldi also has improved zoom and accessibility features. You can now set custom zoom levels for each tab, improved zoom support allowing you to adjust pages so that they’re up to 500 percent bigger than their original size, or as small as 20 percent of their original size.

Other changes in version 1.2 include:

  • Set any web page as the default for new tabs.
  • Select multiple tabs and close them at once with a keyboard shortcut.
  • You can use keyboard shortcuts in the address bar.
  • The design has been updated with some new icons and animations.

It’s been about two months since Vivaldi 1.0 was released, and the goal is to provide an update every 6 weeks.

Vivaldi is based on Google’s Chromium, so it should be able to handle just about any web content that’s accessible in Google’s Chrome browser. But it has way more customization options.
