Microsoft recently announce plans to roll out a Windows 10 Anniversary Update this summer. But if you won’t want to wait until then, you can join the Windows Insider program, sign up for “fast ring” updates, and get the Windows 10 preview build 14328. It includes many of the features that will be coming to all users this summer.

This is a preview release, so there are some known issues and may be other bugs. So proceed with caution. But the good news is you don’t need to install the preview to get a look at what’s coming: Microsoft has published a pretty extensive blog post. Here are some highlights:

  • New Windows Ink features let users with a pen create sticky notes, draw on a whiteboard, and share notes across devices. You can also enable Windows Ink Workspace on devices without a pen if you really want to.
  • The Start Menu now shows “most used” and “all apps” in the same view, always displays the power, settings, and file explorer icons, and lets you see more of your recently added items at a glance.
  • The All Apps list has returned to the full-screen Start Screen for tablets.
  • Cortana can be enabled on your lock screen, allowing you to ask questions, set reminders, and perform other actions without unlocking your computer. You can also now use Cortana to ring your phone remotely or get an alert on your PC when your phone’s battery is low. Maps can also be shared across devices.
  • The Taskbar clock now integrates with your calendar, showing upcoming appointments and allowing you to create appointments without opening the Calendar app. If you have multiple monitors and the taskbar is visible on all of them, you can also make the clock visible on all displays.

Other changes affect the action center, settings utility, virtual desktops, lock screen, and more. Microsoft has also updated the Skype Universal Windows Preview app with support for group messages and group audio and video calls, fixed a bunch of bugs, and improved input for Japanese speaking users.

Note that updating to build 14328 will remove any Microsoft Edge browser extensions you ma have installed, but you can always re-install them. Some users have also had their computers enter connected standby or experience blue screen bug checks after updating.
