The $50 Amazon Fire is the most affordable tablet Amazon has offered to date. While the company offers pricier models with faster processors and higher-resolution displays, the 7 inch tablet is good enough for basic tasks including reading books, playing games, surfing the web, and streaming media.

But if you were disappointed that the Amazon Fire only had 8GB of built-in memory, now there’s a new option: Amazon has started selling a 16GB model.

The Fire tablet with 16GB sells for $70.

The only difference between the $50 and $70 models is the amount of built-in storage.

If you already have the cheaper model, the simplest way to add storage is to buy a microSD card: the tablet can support up to 128GB of removable storage. But built-in storage tends to be faster and more versatile on tablets.

Both the 8GB and 16GB models have 1.3 GHz quad-core processors, 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel IPS displays, a 2MP rear camera, a VGA front camera, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, and up to 7 hours of battery life.

Amazon has also been running a sale on the Fire HD 6 tablet for the past few weeks, which means you can pick up an 8GB version of that tablet for the same price as a 16GB Fire tablet.

The Fire HD 6 has a faster 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and a higher-resolution 6 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display. But it does not have a microSD card slot.
