Amazon Prime membership normally costs $99 per year, and you normally have to pay for a full year in advance. But now there’s a monthly option… for some people.

Sprint has announced that its wireless customers can now pay an extra $10.99 per month on top of their regular phone bill to get access to Amazon Prime. Sure, that comes to nearly $132 per year, but if you don’t have that much money lying around or only want to subscribe for a few months, it could be a better deal for some folks.

Sprint customers who sign up for Amazon prime get all the usual benefits, including:

  • Free 2-day shipping on millions of items
  • Amazon Prime Video streaming
  • Amazon Prime Music streaming
  • Kindle Owners’ Lending Library (assuming you have a Kindle or Fire tablet)
  • Unlimited cloud photo storage
  • Early access to Amazon Lightning Deals

A few years ago Amazon did offer some customers a chance to pay for Prime membership on a monthly basis, but after a pilot program ended, Amazon stopped offering that option.

It’d be a lot easier to recommend this new offering if the price weren’t $33 higher per year than just signing up through Amazon.com. But if you just want to sign up for a month or two so you can binge-watch a few TV shows, I suppose this could be a better option.
