Microsoft has acquired the maker of one of the most popular third-party keyboard apps for Android an iOS.

While this probably means we’ll see SwiftKey technology integrated into Windows 10 in the future, Microsoft says it will continue to develop SwiftKey apps for Android and iOS.

swiftkey

SwiftKey is known for its ability to predict the current and next words you’re trying to type, reducing typos generated by your fat fingers. The keyboard app also includes support for swiping your thumb or finger from one letter to the next to enter words without lifting your finger from the screen.

While SwiftKey isn’t the only keyboard with these features, it’s one of the better ones… and also support themes, emoji, and much more.

According to a report from the Financial Times ahead of the actual announcement, Microsoft is said to be paying $250 million for SwiftKey.
