InFocus has just launched a model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage, which is twice what you get with the original model. The new Kangaroo Plus is now available from Newegg for $170.
The rest of the hardware is pretty much the same, including an Intel Atom x5-Z8500 Cherry Trail processor, a built-in battery for up to 4 hours of use when unplugged, an integrated fingerprint scanner for security, and a detachable dock that adds an HDMI port, additional USB ports, and a power connector.
There’s one thing the new model lacks though: an operating system.
InFocus notes that the Kangaroo Plus supports Windows 10 and Linux-based operating systems. But you’ll need to install one yourself.
The little computer measures about 3 inches by 2 inches, has a micro USB 2.0 port (which can be used for charging when you’re not using the dock), a microSDXC card reader, and 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.
I actually have an original Kangaroo sitting on my review bench, but I haven’t had time to test it yet. I plan to share some thoughts on the design and performance soon.
