Want to count the number of steps you take every day? You can pick up a cheap fitness band for under $20 these days. But want to go all-in on the quantified self movement and keep track of your steps, weight, sleep, heart rate, and more? HTC and Under Armour have a new kit that’s got you covered.
The UA HealthBox includes a smart scale, a fitness band, and a heart rate strap which should offer more reliable measurements than the pulse sensors built into many watches and fitness bands.
The kit isn’t cheap though: it goes up for pre-order today for $400 and should ship to US customers starting January 22nd.
The UA Band is a bracelet that you can wear all day to monitor activity, exercise, and sleep. It has an LED indicator that can display your heart rate when paired with the UA Heart Rate monitor, and you can enable a workout mode that keeps the display active throughout your workout so you can monitor your stats while you exercise.
The UA Scale is a WiFi-enabled scale that measures weight and body fat and displays it on an LED display. You can configure the sale to support up to 8 different users, and each can synchronize their data with their own phone.
All of the accessories are designed to send data to Android or iOS phones using the UA Record app.
Or you could just buy a $15 Mi Band and call it a day.
