While some companies have approached the fitness and activity tracker space by cramming as many features as possible into their hardware, Misfit has always had a slightly different strategy: make wearables that you won’t be embarrassed to actually wear.

The latest is the Misfit Ray, and like other Misfit products it doesn’t have a screen. It just hangs out on your body and keeps track of your steps, sleep, and other activities.

What’s new is the design: instead of a circular design like the Misfit Shine and Flash, the Ray is an aluminum cylinder that you can wear on your wrist or around your neck by attaching it to Misfit’s bracelet or necklace accessories.

Under the hood, the device features a 3-axis accelerometer for motion tracking, a vibration motor for alerts, and a multi-color LED light that can also provide a bit of visual feedback.

When paired with your phone, the Misfit Ray can sync your data to your mobile device and it can also act as a silent alarm clock or blink or shake when you receive text messages or phone calls.

The Ray is water resistant to a depth of 50 meters and it uses a removable, non-rechargeable battery that should be good for up to half a year of battery life.
