The latest Chromebook from Asus is the company’s first model designed specifically for the education market. The Asus C202 Chromebook has a ruggedized design with a rubber bumper and reinforced corners, a spill-resistant keyboard, and a scratch-resistant case.
It also has a modular design that makes it easy to disassemble the notebook and replace faulty components. And the Chromebook has a matte, anti-glare display.
The Asus C202 Chromebook should be available in February for $220 and up.
The laptop features an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, 16GB of eMMC storage, and 2GB or 4GB of RAM. The 4GB version is only expected to cost an extra $10.
It’s powered by an Intel Celeron N3060 processor and features 802.11b/g/n or 802.11ac WiFi options. Other features include two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, and an SD card reader.
Asus doesn’t have a working unit on display at CES this week, but the company is showing off a model to give us an idea of what the final product will look like. Not only does the dummy unit not turn on, the keyboard isn’t even real: you can’t press down on the keys.
Still, the C202 Chromebook seems like it could be a decent, affordable option for folks looking for a Chrome OS laptop with a durable body.
