Dell is adding an 10.8 inch model to its Latitude 5000 series of business laptops… except the Dell Latitude 11 5000 Series isn’t just a laptop. It’s a 2-in-1 tablet with a detachable keyboard and it should be available starting January 26th for $749 and up.
The tablet is powered by an Intel Core M Skylake processor and features a 1920 x 1080 pixel touchscreen display as well as an active digitizer which allows you to use an optional pen.
Dell will offer at least two different keyboard options, both of which feature backlit keys.
The Dell Latitude 11 5000 Series 2-in-1 will be avialable with up to an Intel Core M5-6Y57 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of solid state storage, but an entry-level model will likely ship with a Core M3 chip, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.
Other features include 802.11ac WiFI, Bluetooth 4.1, an 8MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, stereo speakers, and a 35 Whr field replaceable battery.
The tablet has a full-sized USB 3.0 port and a USB 3.0 type C port which you can use to connect a wide range of peripherals using an optional Dell Dock (or a different docking solution or adapter cable). There’s also a microSDXC card reader, a micro HDMI port, and a micro SIM card slot if you opt for a model with cellular capabilities.
The tablet weighs about 1.6 pounds. Add a slime keyboard and the combined weight of the laptop goes up to about 2.7 pounds. A standard keyboard dock brings the total weight to about 3.2 pounds.
If this all sounds kind of familiar, that’s probably because we first heard about this laptop way back in September.
