Cube is the latest Chinese tablet maker to introduce a new model with a 12 inch display and 4GB of RAM. But while rival Chuwi’s new Hi12 tablet has a 1440p screen and an Intel Atom Cherry Trail processor, the new Cube i9 tablet features a 12.2 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel IPS display and an Intel Core M Skylake processor.

The Cube i9 features 128GB of solid state storage, a built-in kickstand, and a detachable keyboard cover with a touchpad, allowing you to use the tablet like a notebook.

Cube’s new tablet features an Intel Core m3-6Y30 Skylake processor, a USB 3.1 Type-C connector, a microSD card reader, and a 5,000 mAh battery. It has a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP rear camera, supports WiFi and Bluetooth, and the tablet sports a magnesium-alloy case.

The Cube i9 goes on sale in China this month for 2,999 yuan, or about $455 US. That makes it kind of expensive for a Chinese tablet, but the Cube i9 is roughly half the price of an entry-level Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with a Core M3 processor (and a higher-resolution display, among other premium features).

Cube tablets have a way of finding their way overseas, where they’re usually sold for slightly higher prices. I suspect you’ll be able to pick up the Cube i9 in the US for around $500 in the not too distant future.
