Soon Windows 10’s Cortana digital assistant will be able to scan your emails and remind you of promises you’ve made. Microsoft calls the new Cortana feature “Commitments.”
The process is similar to the way Cortana tracks packages and flights. When you’ve told your boss that you will have something finished by a certain date, or you agree to call your mom over the weekend, Cortana will notify you that you have unresolved commitments.
You can then choose to complete the task immediately, or set a reminder for later.
Cortana will also pay special attention to emails you’ve sent to yourself. So, if you sent yourself a link or a quick note to address something later, Cortana will ask if you want a reminder to deal with them.
Microsoft promises that the email scan is done locally, so no data is stored on their servers until you choose to set a reminder. You can disable the feature if you don’t want Cortana to scan your email at all.
Microsoft is also adding a new feature that enhances how Cortana schedules events, called “Insights.” This feature will take into account your typical workday and when you are most productive. Cortana will send you a special alert if you have an event that is outside of your normal schedule.
For example, if you have a meeting early the next morning, and you don’t typically start your day so soon, Cortana will notify you, so you can set your alarm earlier, or make sure you plan for possible traffic on your commute.
These new features have already begun rolling out today for the Windows Insider Program, but will be available soon to all Windows 10 users. Microsoft will also add the features to iOS and Android in a future update.

just reminded myself that i do not need an os called “cortana” at all (which accidentally happens to have some sort of windows leftovers within)
I believe there’s a typo in the title.
No, “Cortona” is Pornhub’s knockoff virtual assistant. You know, the one with ….
LOL
Actually, there are two errors in the headline. “You” should be after “remind.”
