Chinse tablet maker Chuwi has a habit of offering low-cost tablets with decent specs… and occasionally the company goes all out and introduces a tablet with premium features, usually for far less money than a similar device from Samsung or Asus.
The company’s newest tablet is an 8 inch model which packs an awful lot of buzz-words for 2016 into a small package. The Chuwi Hi8 Pro features a full HD display, an Intel Cherry Trail processor, a USB Type C connector, and dual-OS software, allowing you to boot into either Android or Windows.
Here’s an overview of the tablet’s specs:
- 8 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel IPS display
- Intel Atom x5-Z8300 Cherry Trail processor
- 2GB RAM
- 32GB storage
- 4,000 mAh battery
- HDMI
- SD card slot
- 2MP front and rear cameras
Sure, some folks would probably prefer a more powerful Atom processor and 4GB of RAM. But on paper, the rest of the specs look pretty nice for a budget tablet.
Chuwi hasn’t said when you’ll be able to buy the tablet yet, or how much it will cost, but I’d be surprised if it has a starting price higher than for an iPad mini.
