Asus recently launched an updated version of its affordable Zenbook UX305 ultrabook with the new model sporting an Intel Core M Skylake processor rather than the Broadwell chip found in the version I reviewed earlier this year.

But it turns out Asus isn’t stopping at one new model.

There are actually several new versions, including one model with premium specs including a high-resolution screen, double the storage space, and a faster processor.

The new top-of-the-line Zenbook UX305CA-OHM7 is a $1099 laptop with a 13.3 inch, 3200 x 1800 pixel IPS display, an Intel Core M7-6Y75 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 512GB solid state drive.

It has the same aluminum unibody case as other models in this series, measures just 0.5 inches thick, and weighs just about 2.6 pounds. The notebook has three USB 3.0 ports, a micro HDMI port, an SD card reader, and features 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.

If you’re looking for a cheaper model with a Skylake chip, the new $699 Zenbook UX305CA sports a Core M3-6Y30 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and a 1920 x 1080 pixel IPS display.

And if you’re cool with the older model with a Core M-5Y10 broadwell processor, but wish it had more storage space, Asus has that covered. There’s a new $799 version of the Zenbook UX305FA that sports 512GB of storage.

Just want a good deal on a compact notebook? The original Zenbook UX305FA with 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and a Broadwell chip continues to be available for $699… but Asus offers a $100 rebate that brings the price down to $599 when you buy the laptop from select retailers.

There are certainly more powerful thin and light laptops on the market, as well as models with features that the Zenbook UX305 lacks (such as a backlit keyboard). But it’s hard to beat the price of these little guys.

    ASUS UX305CA-FB057T 13.3″/QHD+/CORE M7-6Y75/8GB/512GB/802.11AC/W10 1261 eur
That’s the prices we have in a real world.
    825 eur for 128 GB model, Carl…

I think it should be “Asus”, and not “Intel”

  3. These are very good deals. The backlit keyboard to me is still gimmicky, my Dell Inspiron 15 has a backlit keyboard. But after being wow-ed by it for about 2 weeks, I forget to even turn it on now. Don’t even remember when I last turned it on.

    1. Backlit keyboards are great for anyone who uses their laptop in the dark. When you shift your eyes from the bright screen to your keys, it takes a moment for your eyes to adjust

      1. Yep, there are far too many situations where a backlit keyboard is more than just a “nice to have” (planes / trains, dark meeting rooms or classrooms, in bed). I’m sad that this is still a corner that Asus is cutting on the UX305. I’d pay an extra $30-50 for a backlit keyboard.

      2. True, but I tend to not use my laptop in the dark. My vision is poor enough as it is, I can’t afford to make it worse.
