Fossil’s first smartwatch running Android Wear software is now available for purchase. The Fossil Q Founder is a stainless steel watch with a round display, an IP67 water-resistant case, and support for just about any 22mm band (Fossil will offers its own leather straps eventually, but right now the watch ships with a stainless steel band).

The Fossil Q Founder may be one of the first Android Wear devices to come from a company better known for making watches than phones, but priced at $295, the Q Founder is actually cheaper than some recent Android Wear models from companies including Motorola and Huawei.

The watch is just part of a new line of connected wearables from Fossil. The company is taking the space seriously: Fossil recently spent $260 million to acquire fitness tracker maker Misfit.

Other models in the Fossil Q family include the Q Reveler and Q Dreamer bracelets with notification and activity tracking features and the Q Grant watch with support for similar features. None of those devices use Android Wear though, which means they have limited support for third-party apps.

As for the Q Founder smartwatch, it features 4GB of storage, a 400 mAh battery for up to 24 hous of run time, support for Bluetooth 4.1 and sensors including a 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope. It has a microphone for voice input, a touchscreen for finger input, and the ability to pair with devices running Android 4.4 or later or iOS 8 or later.

  1. And it has the 360 flat tire…makes me wonder if this is a Moto360 with a Fossil shell
